You don't need fancy gear, just your phone. These tips aren't guesswork; they're what the data shows.

⏱️ Win the first 3 seconds. People decide to keep watching almost instantly. Open on the strongest thing you've got: the sizzle, the pour, the finished plate, or you saying something bold. No slow intros, no logos first.

🎣 Lead with a hook that works. In the data, the top openers were an offer ("$3 tacos till noon" — 9.3% hit rate), a confession ("The dish I almost took off the menu..." — 8.7%), curiosity (7.8%), or a bold claim ("Best birria in 78741" — 7.2%). Vague "come visit us" lifestyle clips ranked among the worst. (Motion 2026)

🔨 Show the thing being made. Demo-style videos are a proven scale format (8.1% hit rate), and in home/lifestyle verticals demonstration and process beat everything. Film the cook, the pour, the brushstroke, the build. Close-ups and natural sound (the "ASMR" of it, 8.6%) keep people watching. (Motion 2026)

💬 Put words on screen. Text-forward content had the single highest rate of any asset type, 11.6%, well above polished "high production" video. Most people watch with the sound off, so add big, readable captions for your hook and your offer. (Motion 2026)

👤 Be a real person or use a real customer. "Founder talking to camera" (8.6% hit rate) and "behind the scenes" (8.6%) outperform most polished formats. A happy customer saying one true sentence ("I drive across town for this") is worth more than any slogan. (Motion 2026)

📱 Shoot vertical, keep it short, end with a clear ask. Film 9:16 full-screen, 15–30 seconds, in good light (golden hour or facing a window). Finish with one instruction: "Come find us at Art Hub ATX, 2801 S IH-35."
